Mobile Retailers Anticipate a Surge in Festive Sales
As the festive season approaches, mobile retailers in the city are buzzing with excitement, predicting a 20-30% increase in sales. This optimistic outlook is largely due to competitive pricing, enticing discounts, and attractive offers that include free gifts and straightforward EMI options for consumers.
A bustling retail store in the festive season
Over the past few weeks, local stores have witnessed a notable uptick in foot traffic. This surge can be attributed to shifting consumer preferences, particularly influenced by recent changes in exchange policies that have made shopping in physical stores far more appealing than it was previously.
Neeraj Jahor, president of the UP Mobile Association, emphasizes the growing interest in mid-range mobile phones, particularly those priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 25,000. He noted, > “Shoppers tend to check online prices before visiting, but when they find similar discounts here, they prefer to buy in-store.”
Jahor pointed out that in the past two festive seasons, mobile retailers in Uttar Pradesh generated approximately Rs 100 crore each. This year, with expectations set for a further 20-30% increase, the stakes are high. With Lucknow consistently leading in festive sales, retailers are gearing up for what promises to be an exhilarating sales weekend as shops expect to remain open on November 1.
Customers are more inclined to shop in person, valuing the added convenience and customer service that local stores provide. Ramesh Verma, a customer spotted shopping in Hazratganj, shared, > “I look up online deals first, but prefer stores where I can see the phone and compare options. The discounts are comparable, and I often get free accessories.”

Another shopper, Poonam Sharma, concurred, stating: > “Shopping in-store feels more secure, and I don’t have to deal with delivery issues. Also, I can get advice on the best options for my budget.”
Retailers like Mandeep Singh, owner of Mandeep Mobiles in Janpath, have noticed steady demand for brands including Motorola, Redmi, and Nothing. According to Singh, sales have been particularly strong for accessories that customers love to purchase alongside their new devices during the Diwali sales. The recent buzz surrounding high-end models like the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 has also led to increased demand.
As we inch closer to the festive peak, the upcoming week is set to be particularly significant, with exchange offers enhancing the appeal for potential buyers.
Abhishek Tripathi, a sales executive at a store in Hazratganj, highlighted that consumers are often attracted to in-store purchases for the personal touch and hands-on experience. He noted: > “Many of our customers appreciate being able to physically see the product and access personalised guidance, which makes shopping locally more appealing.”
In a landscape where online shopping has rapidly grown, local mobile retailers are proving that face-to-face interactions still matter. As people step out to explore festive deals, the in-store experience offers more than just phones — it provides assurance and immediate support, which is irreplaceable.

The combination of competitive pricing, attractive discounts, and the joy of shopping in-person is setting the stage for what could be a record-breaking festive season for mobile retailers. As they prepare for this surge, one thing is clear: the harmony of tradition and technology continues to thrive, making our shopping experiences as vibrant as the festive season itself.
