Hyundai CNG Cars to Get Dual-Cylinder Technology

Hyundai, the South Korean automaker, is likely to introduce dual-cylinder technology in its CNG cars, a move that will increase boot space in models like Exter, Aura, and Grand i10 Nios. This development comes after the company filed a new trademark, hinting at the introduction of dual-cylinder technology.

Currently, Hyundai offers a factory-fitted CNG kit for three models - Exter, Aura, and Grand i10 Nios - each equipped with a single cylinder placed in the boot. However, with the dual-cylinder setup, the boot space is expected to increase, making the cars more practical for daily use.

Tata Motors is currently the only manufacturer in India to offer dual-cylinder CNG technology, which features two smaller CNG cylinders instead of a single large one. This technology has been available in Tata’s CNG models, including Altroz, Tiago, Punch, and Tigor, for over a year now.

The Grand i10 Nios is currently India’s most affordable CNG car, starting at Rs 7.68 lakh. The Aura CNG is priced between Rs 8.31 lakh and Rs 9.05 lakh, while the Exter CNG ranges from Rs 8.43 lakh to Rs 9.16 lakh. It remains to be seen if Hyundai will introduce new features with the CNG cars along with the dual-cylinder technology or expand the CNG line-up with more variants.
