From discounted burgers to free beer, and even complimentary bike rides to polling stations, the city’s entrepreneurs are pulling out all the stops to make voting a rewarding experience for residents.
Low Voter Turnout Concerns
Despite the Election Commission’s efforts to boost awareness, Bengaluru has historically seen low voter turnout during elections. This time around, however, things are shaping up to be different.
Innovative Campaigns
Various establishments have launched innovative campaigns to incentivize voting. For instance, Mr. Philly’s, a burger outlet in Marathahalli, is offering a 30% discount on burgers and milkshakes to the first 100 customers who show their inked finger on election day. Wonderla Holidays is giving 15% off on tickets for voters with inked fingers, valid for three days post-election day. Deck of Brews brewpub will treat the first 50 guests with inked fingers to a free beer the day after the election. SOCIAL is offering a 20% discount on meals for voters who present their inked finger along with a special voting bill. Air India Express is providing a 19% discount on flights for first-time voters aged 18-22 travelling to cast their vote. Blu-Smart is offering 50% off on rides to and from polling stations within a 30km radius in Bengaluru and Delhi NCR. And, Rapido is providing free rides to differently-abled and senior citizen voters in Bengaluru on election day.

The Bruhat Bangalore Hotels Association (BBHA) is also pitching in by offering free coffee, dosas, fruit juice, and discounts at various establishments to encourage voter turnout.
